PLEASE HELP A HIGHLAND STUDENT RAISE MONEY TO BUILD A SCHOOL IN BOLIVIA!

Highland Middle is sponsoring a penny harvest (of course larger coins or bills are more than welcome!) to help raise money to build a school in Bolivia through "Mano a Mano."  Bolivia is one of the poorest countries in the Americas and many children go without any education at all for lack of facilities, teachers and materials. Please empty your pockets, look under your sofa cushions, check under the seats of your car, and send or bring in your change. We will be collecting coins daily in Advisory.

Also, any coffee orders through Velásquez Family Coffee this month contribute to this effort (click HERE to see order form and information attached).

THANK YOU!

Eighth Grade Recognition

As the year draws to a close, it is exciting to celebrate our students' achievements, talents and efforts in making their school year a success.  We are going to recognize our 8th graders on the following dates:

  • Immersion Team, Monday, June 3rd, from 1-2 pm
  • NASA Team,  Tuesday, June 4th, from 1-2 pm
  • FISH Team, Wednesday, June 5th from 1-2pm

We invite all parents, grandparents, and families to come join us.  Sixth and seventh grade students, or students from other schools, are not allowed to attend recognition unless their parent accompanies them.   If you have any questions about this event, please contact Elisabeth Mulvaney at 651-293-8950.

Registration for New Students: REGISTRATION FORMS ARE NOW ON THE WEBSITE (UNDER COUNSELOR'S CORNER)

Staff at Highland Park Middle School are excited to welcome our new students for the 2013-2014 school year!

Highland will be hosting new student registration information sessions on Tuesday, April 30 (3:00-5:00 pm) and Thursday May 2 (3:00-6:00).   Counselors and other staff will be available to help parents and students with the process of registering for the core and elective classes.  Elementary teacher recommendations, student test scores and parent/student input are all considered when deciding on class choices.

Registration forms are on the school website (under the Counselor's Corner) for parents to download and complete at home or at a registration session.

If you are unable to attend a registration session or have questions about the registration process, please call Ms. Katzmarek (incoming 6th grade and 8th grade) or Ms. Mulvaney (incoming 7th)  at 651-293-8950 with any questions.

Registration for current 6th and 7th graders

Ms. Katzmarek and Ms. Mulvaney will be visiting the 6th and 7th grade classrooms during the week of May 13th in order to go over registration information for next year.   Copies of registration paperwork will be sent home with students for parents to review with them.

For next year, students will continue with four core classes and the second/third year of their world language. The rest of the student’s schedule will consist of elective classes, including required electives (e.g. physical education, health). The registration forms need to be signed by parents/guardians and turned into the guidance office by May 30th, 2013.  Registration forms are also available on the school website (under counselor’s corner section).
