Testing
On days that your student will be testing it is important that they have a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive to school on-time.

GRAD Writing Practice Test
This is the district practice test which helps prepare 8th graders for next year's GRAD writing test.  Students must pass the GRAD writing test in order to graduate from high school.

The 8th graders take the practice test during an extended homeroom on Tuesday, October 13th.  Results from this test allow teachers and students to understand what areas of writing are strengths for them, as well as where they need to improve.

Explore
The Explore test is linked to the Plan test (10th grade) and the ACT test (11th/12th grade).  This test gets students thinking about career choices, reporting on areas of interest students may have, as well as areas of strength.  In addition, student achievement related to college readiness bench marks in the areas of Reading, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies are measured.

Eighth graders will take the Explore test during extended homeroom on Wednesday,  November 4th (early release day).

Test of Emerging Academic English (TEAE)
The TEAE test is taken by students who have a home language other than English, in order to assess their gains in academic English.  Many students will take the test in their ELL classes.  Students who do not receive direct ELL service will take the test during the school day in the cafeteria.  The testing window for the TEAE is in March 2010.
