Making Friends

Friend Making Opportunities

Even if you are on the immersion team there are opportunities to meet new people. You can meet new people through sports, clubs, or electives, and there are also some kids on the immersion team who didn't go to Adams. Although you have most classes with immersion kids you can sit with different people at lunch who you get along better with.

Bullies

Q. Are there bullies at your school? What do you do if someone bullies you? A. I don't really notice people purposely picking on a specific person that much but yes every school has a few bullies. There aren't so much bullies but there are some people that are mean but if you know someone is mean or causes a lot of drama just stay away from them. I feel like there is less direct bullying than elementary school if you just stay away from mean people and pick nice friends.

Q:Is it easy to get around your school?  Do you ever get lost? A: After about the first week or couple first days you will get the hang of it and how all the classrooms and floors line up. Its takes everyone a couple days to figure it out so don't feel bad if you have to ask for directions because it will happen and it does happen. :)

What is the first day of school like?
12/2/2009 7:22 PM
On the first day of school it's not scary. All you do is, you go to your homeroom when school starts. You get there and your homeroom teacher should have your schedule and maybe a map of the school. The first day of school is usually a day where teachers talk about their class and what you'll do out the year. There'll also be WEB leaders to help you around. They try to make your first day of Junior High easier. You'll get the hang of things.

How could I get dating out of my way when my friends are forcing me to date? Well you could talk to your friends and tell them that you don't want to date and it's your decision if you want a relationship.

What is your best tip for staying organized during the school year? I usually organize my textbooks and notebooks by period and that way it is easier to get the stuff out that I need. Or you can color code your notebooks and folders rAcHeL

PD: Homework
11/25/2009 1:03 AM
How much is a typical nights worth of homework?

I find that a typical nights worth of homework can be anywhere between 0-2 hrs. It all depends on how much you receive that day, how much of it you finish in school/class, and how well you manage your time. Math is the only subject where I get a constant amount of homework every night but it is little enough that if you spend your time wisely you could finish it during homeroom or any other free time you might have. In the other subjects you don't usually have homework every night, maybe 3 times a week tops. So the time for your homework all depends on how wisely you manage your time during school AND at home.

Lockers

How do you know where your locker is? Answered by Grace

If your locker number is in the hundreds, and starts with a 1 then it will be on the first floor. If it starts with a 2 it will be on the second floor. If it starts with a 3 then it will be on the third floor. Don't worry though, it will be close to wherever your homeroom is so it wont be hard to find. But if you still don't know where it is, there are staff and other students that can help you find it.

How to deal with-Lockers

How do you know where your locker is?

My answer:
On the first day of school you go to your homeroom teacher's room. They have a list of lockers that are assigned to your homeroom. You'll get an assigned locker somewhere usually around your homeroom. If you have problems with your locker you can go and ask your homeroom teacher to help you. They usually have extra lockers so if yours is having problems they can assign you a different one.

It's really easy to deal with lockers. If you're having problems trying to open them you are also assigned a locker combination. It's really easy to open your locker. There's also an example of how to open it in your Highland planner. There's also always people around you to help you with opening it too.
