Highland Park Junior High welcomed about 200 new students for our 1st annual WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) orientation on Thursday, September 3rd.
New seventh and eighth graders participated in large group warm up activities and small group icebreakers.
Later in the morning, students broke off into their WEB groups for small group activities in order to get to know each other better.
Each WEB group was led by two trained 8th graders (WEB leaders) who took great pride and enjoyment in working with their students.
We reconvened in the gym for a closing activity and then headed up to the cafeteria for lunch. All in all, the day was a great success!
WEB activities will continue throughout the school year.
WEB leaders will teach a series of lessons within the 7th grade classrooms.
In addition, the WEB groups will continue to meet periodically so that these students stayed connected with each other.
